Capers

I just can’t stop doing food gags.
I actually had to look up “its” vs “it’s” to do this one, since I always forget. To recap: “its” is the possessive of “it”, whereas “it’s” is a contraction of “it is”. Just look at us, reading comics and learning English grammar at the same time! That’s what I call multitasking.
Have a great weekend everyone! See you Tuesday!
I like capers.
And sauerkraut.
Both of these definitely do not go with everything though. But in the right dish… Tasty!
Sauerkraut goes great with everything that goes great with mustard, I think.
This is becoming a food blog.
There’s worse things to talk about than food! 😉
Or else no one of us would ever have watched the awesome thing that is Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.
I love how excited he gets when he eats some animal’s head.
What we call sauerkraut in the U S is nothing but raw material. During a trip to Germany, I had the luxury of trying the real thing! Marinated in a thick, gooey sweet-sour sauce, it was served on a large dinner plate as the bed for three large worsts. Unlike what we’re used to, it had a rich, almost mild taste. Meant to be shared by all on that table, it was a main dish, and the worsts were the condiments! I haven’t found the same on this side of the ocean. To compare our kraut to this delicacy would be like comparing a Kay Street guitar to a Gibson. I’d have to wonder what Rachel’s face would be after a taste of that!
Damn. I like American Sauerkraut a lot. Maybe I ought to be lusting after Kays instead of Gibsons.
Maybe you ought to find and try some sauerkraut the way it is made and served over here.
I wouldn’t know about the U.S. way of making sauerkraut. Never been closer to your continent than in the western part of Ireland myself.
Hold on, I didn’t say that I didn’t like American sauerkraut! The German stuff just won’t make it on a Hebrew National (for a number of reasons!). I’d love a Gibson, but I’ll still keep my Kay. I have a Kay, and I decided to tune the lower E and A strings up an octave because I just couldn’t get a decent tone with such short strings. It sounds like an electric ukulele! Speaking of guitars, your Fender looks GREAT! When you added the black pickup covers, the double off white cover approximated the color of the fret board. It’s an interesting and unique look!
We make sauerkraut here the same way they do most everywhere else-with salt and shredded cabbage. But you can cook up some sweet sauerkraut to have with your wursts.
And smoked salmon with capers (and lemon) is great stuff.
As is Rachel’s face in the last panel. That’s another tough look to make work, and you did a great job.
That’s something we can all agree on!
Aww, thanks you guys 🙂
