Let’s Do This

I got all the way through this page – the first page in the new chapter – before realizing I should be doing a chapter break instead of a new page. Whoops. That will have to be on Thursday. But which piece of gear shall I profile. Hmm… 😉
The most interesting part of these past few weeks has been drawing Rachel with different hair and makeup. In the world of comics, there often isn’t much more than that to work with to distinguish a person. It has been a challenge, but it’s been fun.
Have a great week!
As far as running jokes go, “stunned Derek” is one of the best. To be fair, however, he had the best reason to be stunned this trime. Rachel looks fantastic without losing her original charm. 🙂
I’m no expert on rock band parties, but i wonder if she’s not a tad overdressed. 🙂
Funny as always. as long as stunned Derek doesn’t turn into “SKINNED KNEE” on Family guy
That is a pretty legitimate concern. It is a fine line to tread. Don’t want to end up like a newspaper comic, repeating the same gag over and over again for seventy years. Having a continually progressing plotline helps prevent that, fortunately.
I don’t think it’s gotten out of hand yet. I see it as the first two times setting things up for the payoff concerning how wonderful Rachel looks all dressed up. (Which I think you did beautifully–no pun intended.)
Thanks 🙂
Yeah I certainly agree that it works here. Running gags are good things, really. They even help establish continuity within a comic or show, and become funnier through repeated use.
As Norman pointed out, of course, they CAN be overused to where they just hold things back. I’ve got a ways to go before I need to worry too much about that, though.
I don’t know if she’s dressed right. But she’s surely dressed great! Looking good there, Rachel.
And Derek really needs a button for quick restarts.
If Rachel kissed him like The Prince kissing Sleeping Beauty, would he wake up, or have a heart attack? 😀
